Summary of gorsuch
@rma173 I want to be careful -Pence is Catholic converted to Evangelicalism -Pompeo is Evangelical -Gorsuch was raised Catholic, but now worships at his wife's church Where there's plenty of overlap btw RW Catholics/Evangelicals is their rejection of church/state separation & "judges":
@tribelaw of the Federalist Society, which helped shepherd the Supreme Court nominations of Brett M. Kavanaugh and Neil M. Gorsuch. White House counsel Pat Cipollone is a former board member, as is William P. Barr, who served as attorney general under President George H.W. Bush and is ./3
So Neil Gorsuch apparently was concerned today about “massive social upheaval” if #SCOTUS rules LGBTQ can’t be fired under Civil Rights Act. Except, 21+ states have these laws now, including his beloved Colorado, where he was law professor. There’s been no upheaval.
Gorsuch's fear of "massive social upheaval" from LGBTQ rights is a bad legal argument. Does he think Brown v Board of Education was wrongly decided b/c southern whites threw a fit over it? The whole point of civil rights is that the upheaval doesn't matter. twitter.com/lawrencehurley…
Reposting w/out typo: After Title VII arguments, Justice Gorsuch seems to think the textual arguments are a close thing, but he's worried about court going beyond its role and the "massive social upheaval" that could result from a ruling in favor of plaintiffs— Lawrence Hurley (@lawrencehurley) October 8, 2019
